Proper Water Storage
We take great pride in providing our customers with quality products and exceptional customer service. Due to the nature of how our products are bottled and distributed, we need your help in maintaining the recyclable bottles that are delivered to you home or office. Please read the precautions below.
- Please use caution when moving or placing a bottle on or off your water cooler. A dropped bottle has a chance of cracking and then leaking if dropped hard enough
- Always store your bottles in a dry and shaded area. We strongly recommend that they are placed in an area that will not be affected by possible moisture, resulting from a leaking bottle. In the winter months, bottles must be stored in warm areas to prevent water from freezing causing bottles to exand and break.
- We urge all of our customers to check the bottles that they have in their possession before placing them on a cooler. If you see a circular ring on the floor after you have moved a bottle, it could be leaking. Please be aware if the bottles are being stored in your garage, sometimes the difference in temperature will make a moisture ring on the floor.
- If you have a bottle that does not have a standard amount of water inside (usually filled to the bottom of the neck) that would be a very good indication that the bottle is leaking
- If a customer choses to place a cooler (owned or rented) or to store full bottles on hard wood or tile that could be damaged water, Shenandoah Water is NOT responsible for the damage that my be caused due to the failure of the equipment or bottle. We would advise you at no time to have the bottle water products near those types of situations.
- If at any time you discover that you have a leaker bottle, please mark the bottle in an appropriate way and it will be replaced at no charge on your next delivery. If a leaker bottle causes you to run short on water prior to your next delivery date, please notify us so we can schedule an earlier delivery.
TROUBLE SHOOTING A LEAKER BOTTLE vs COOLER – When a bottle is on your cooler, the reason it does not leak all over your floor is because 99% of the time the bottle is in good condition and has no cracks or fractures. If there is a hair-line crack in the bottle, it will not be noticed until the hair-line crack is exposed above the water line in the bottle as it sits on the cooler. Then the bottle loses its vacuum with the air filter in the cooler, and water fills the reservoir. The reservoir then overflows and makes it appear as though it is the cooler that is leaking, when in fact it is the bottle that is the cause.
- Remove the bottle immediately.
- With no bottle on the cooler, drain water thru the spigots.
- If you see water standing in the area around the probe, that is a very good indication that the bottle had a fracture. Remove the standing water from the probe area, and you can confidently place another bottle on the cooler.
If you have removed the bottle and drained some water from the spigots and the cooler continues to leak – it is the cooler and not the bottle.
TIPS |

Bottles – We recycle the 3 and 5 gallon bottles. Please help us to take care of them. You are charged a $6 recyclable fee to encourage you to return the bottles in good condition. Please do not remove the cap and use the bottle for any other purpose if you would like your recyclable fee credit upon the return. If you would like to purchase a bottle for another purpose, let us know and we can provide additional bottles.
Delivery Date – Please remember to have your empties available for the driver on your delivery date. If you forget to set your empties out, you will be charged an addtional recyclable bottle. You will receive full credit for all bottles returned on your next delivery date. It is not our standard policy to make an off-route stop to pick up empties only.
Delivery Amount – If you want more or less water delivered than you have empty bottles, leave a note on one of the bottles. Unless otherwise noted, we will replace all empty bottles with full bottles.
Storage – Store your bottles in a clean, dark (not in direct sunlight) area that maintains a temperature above freezing. For storage ideas, consider purchasing a Bottle up
