USHC is a non-profit organization comprised of thousands of consumers,
advocates, and eldercare professionals throughout the country who are
committed to the belief that informed consumers are those best able to
help themselves. USHC is a leading source of accurate, unbiased information
for "aging network" professionals, older consumers and family
members.
We were founded in 1985 with the mission of fostering health and independence
among older persons and families through increased access to unbiased,
affordable, quality consumer information and community services and resources.
USHC develops and tests innovative and practical solutions to problems
facing older and low-income persons and shares these consumer-tested solutions
with organizations and individuals throughout the country. For over a
decade, USHC has been on the forefront of harnessing the power of new
computer and telecommunications technologies to support our mission.

The
American Dietetic Association
Nearly 70,000 members--the largest group of food and nutrition professionals
in the nation. Open to those who meet academic and experience requirements
established by the Association. Approximately 75 percent are registered
dietitians (RDs) and four percent are dietetic technicians, registered
(DTRs). Members include clinical and community dietetics professionals,
consultants, food service managers, educators, researchers, dietetic technicians
and students.
ADA members represent a wide range of practice areas and special interests,
including: public health; sports nutrition; medical nutrition therapy;
diet counseling for weight control, cholesterol reduction, diabetes, renal
and
other health concerns; vegetarianism, food service management in business,
hospitals, restaurants, long-term care facilities, and education systems;
education of other health care professionals; and research. There are
28 special interest or dietetic practice groups that members can join.

The
National Women's Health Information Center
The National Women's Health Information Center, a service of the Office
on Women's Health in the Department of Health and Human Services. The
NWHIC provides a gateway to the vast array of Federal and other women's
health information resources. Our site on the World Wide Web can help
you link to, read, and download a wide variety of women's health-related
material developed by the Department of Health and Human Services, the
Department of Defense, other Federal agencies, and private sector resources.

The
American Public Health Association (APHA)
The American Public Health Association (APHA) is the oldest and largest
organization of public health professionals in the world, representing
more than 50,000 members from over 50 occupations of public health. The
Association and its members have been influencing policies and setting
priorities in public health since 1872.
